Garden Rules & Guidelines

  1. Garden beds will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. A previous year’s gardener has first dibs on his/her former plot if they recommit to the space by April 15th.

  2. Each gardener must supply his/her own seeds, transplants, and tools, and is responsible for their bed’s watering, weeding, and upkeep. Gardeners may arrange for a substitute to water their beds. Watering equipment will be made available.

  3. Garden plots must be cared for at least once a week. If the gardener is unable to meet that schedule, he/she must notify the garden’s member coordinator. Any bed left unattended for more than three weeks (barring previous notification) may be reassigned and/or have its harvest donated.

  4. This is an organic garden. To protect our health, the use of chemical (non-organic) weed killers, pesticides, or fungicides is strictly prohibited.

  5. Children are welcome in the garden but must be accompanied by an adult and supervised at all times.

  6. Gardeners may only harvest from their own plot or from collectively grown and shared areas. Despite our best efforts, losses do occur to poaching. The best way to prevent garden theft is to spend as much time as possible in the garden.

  7. No dogs are permitted inside the garden’s enclosures.

  8. At the end of the growing season, each gardener is responsible for cleaning all plant material from their plot, depositing it in the indicated compost bins or (if diseased) into a trash receptacle; leaving their plot in the clean, weed-free condition they found it.

  9. Get to know your neighbors. Have fun! Happy gardening!
