About Us

The Windsor Community Garden (WCG) is dedicated to fostering community by providing cost-free places for local residents to grow food. We are committed to using organic gardening practices to lower the community’s carbon emissions, aim to improve health and climate resilience by providing fresh-grown produce, and play an active role in food insecurity prevention. We seek out partners with like-minded goals; those who are focused on building resilient communities from the ground up.

Established in 2019, the idea for Windsor Community Garden came together when a small group of Windsor residents decided to begin planting in four raised beds adjacent to the Community Resource Center that were no longer receiving regular use. In the years that followed, thanks to our generous and supportive partners at Rise VT, Mascoma Bank, the Town Of Windsor, Vermont Garden Network, Windsor Public Library, the Windsor Food Shelf, and our dedicated group of volunteers, WCG has grown. Entering the 2022 growing season, WCG is currently responsible for two separate sites and has co-launched a third with our partners at Windsor Public Library. We’re also embarking on incorporating a Food Forest into our second location, a concept made possible by obtaining a grant via the Vermont Garden Network.

Thank you to our generous donors and community partners. Please consider lending your support to this effort.
